This is another picture I've done for the novel. Basically she is some sort of Elizabeth Báthory type character. In fact, she is the torturer behind this.
Since the publisher I'm working for has their standards, I've prepared a boring version and let them decide which one to choose. I would be pleasantly surprised if they decide to go with the bloody one.

I personally wouldn\'t call the editor a bunch of pussies, they probably realise that they don\'t live in a free country.

Basically, some sort of ritual by putting the victim to eternal suffering for creating some powerful magic, that kind of stuff. As I've said earlier, they were kept alive by MAGIC. (sigh)
BTW, I see that you've posted the set of Roll pics. Can I put them here on my site so I can do a commentary on it?

I'm not very good at the fantasy, magic, classical horror type of guro. I'm always a man of SCIENCE. Frankenstein perhaps? BTW, Franken-Fran is my new favorite manga.
(Yeah, I know there are some authors hell-bent on giving the classical horrors like zombies, vampires, werewolves etc a sci-fi twist.)

Oh, Sorry for the double post but what I was meant to be asking is how is she being tortured (so is her abdomen being squeezed by that metal sleeve? etc)

Yes. Google for "tight corset" some of the images are downright... grotesque.
The corset is meant to be leather, however I painted it as metal to give it some sort of "iron maiden" feel (the torture device, not the band).
Her body is wrapped in some sort of tight transparent latex, with dried/wet blood clotting inside. I did it once in the picture where two nurses holding the mirror, and I loved it. However I can't quite replicate the effect since then.
Her face is covered by a spiked (from the inside) facemask.
The spiked steering-wheel thing is sort of an afterthought. A similar device can be seen in old Asian apartment buildings.

But I remember that they are installed vertically and flanking the balcony of an apartment, to stop burglars from climbing inside.
The torturing process is not really described in such detail in the book. The book sort of just hinted about how they're tortured.
